Officials say “dozens” of bullets were fired and they are currently examining casings as evidence.
AKRON, Ohio — One person died and two others were injured following a shooting in the North Hill neighborhood of Akron on Wednesday night.
Police said there had been a “large” memorial gathering near the 800 block of Wall Street when a group of several people may have started firing shots at the vigil around 6 p.m. Investigators believe someone in the crowd may have exchanged gunfire with the perpetrators.

A 30-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center via a private vehicle. He died there of his injuries. The Summit County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Christopher Johnson of Akron. Johnson died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
A second 30-year-old man was also shot at the scene and rushed by ambulance to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, while a 19-year-old victim was taken to the same facility with his own injuries. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
