TELL CITY — The next meeting of the Tell City ARP committee will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m. in the upstairs council chambers of Tell City Town Hall.

Chicken Dinner Fundraiser

PERRY COUNTY – There will be a chicken dinner fundraiser for the 2022 Perry County Boy Scouts trip to Juliet Gordon Lowe Boy Scouts birthplace.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 3

Service starts at 11:00 a.m. at Zoercher-Bettinger Park

  • Dinners not collected by noon will be sold.

Advance tickets are $10

Dinners include: Half Chicken, Brook Fries and Green Beans.

For tickets, contact any local Scout on the trip.

Perry-Spencer Crop Day program to showcase cover crop trends

PERRY COUNTY – The annual Perry-Spencer Crop Day will be held Thursday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. CDT. As with last year’s program, participants will have the option of participating virtually or on-site at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds in Tell City or the Spencer County Youth & Community Center in Chrisney. Crop Day is a joint effort between Purdue Extension and the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Perry and Spencer Counties.

Featured speakers this year include Dan Quinn, Corn Specialist from Purdue Extension, speaking on “Lessons Learned from the 2021 Growing Season” and Shaun Casteel, Soybean Specialist from Purdue Extension, speaking on “Tips for soybean management 2022”. In addition, a presentation on regulations and best practices for the use of mini-bulks will be included. Private and Commercial Applicator Program credit (Categories 1, 14 and RT) will be available for virtual and in-person attendees. No meals will be included in this year’s program.

There is no entry fee to participate, but a $10 fee will apply for those requiring Commercial Applicator Credit (CCH). PARP fees will be waived for all private applicators attending as a result of Indiana Soybean Alliance / Indiana Corn Marketing Council sponsorship. Pre-registration is required. Ohio Valley Tractor Club Reunion

LEOPOLD – Ohio Valley Tractor Club will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Perry Central Agricultural Building, 18677 Old State Road 37, Leopold.

Welcome new members. Current members are encouraged to attend.

Annual Perry County 4-H Mulch Sale

PERRY COUNTY – Do you need mulch but don’t have a truck or the ability or desire to spread it? 4-H can help! We sell natural bark mulch by the spoonful. Each scoop is equivalent to approximately 13 sachets. The cost is $30 per scoop for deliveries to Tell City and Cannelton. For an additional $10 we’ll deliver it up to 25 miles from the fairgrounds. A group of young people and adults will spread it for 10 dollars per ball. All proceeds support Perry County 4-H.

The mulch will be delivered on Saturday April 23 with a rain date of April 30.

Farmer’s Market 2022

PERRY COUNTY – The Town of Tell City and the Perry County Convention and Visitors Bureau will host a 2022 Farmers Market planning meeting at the Tell City Depot on Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m.

This meeting is to make plans for the 2022 Farmer’s Market.

The markets take place from the first Saturday of June until the end of October each year.

Please join us in planning to make the 2022 market the best it can be.

Farmers, fruit and vegetable growers, honey, cider, egg and meat suppliers, baked goods, herbs, plants, gourds, potted plants, soaps, lotions, candles, fairy gardens, craft items such as wreaths, panels, hats, scarves, quilts, pottery, etc.

These are just a few suggestions of things we’ve had in the markets in the past and hope to have in the future.

William Tell Center

TELL CITY – William Tell Center, 1301 11th St. in Tell City, will host music events throughout March. Bands play from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays. Line dancing is 6-8 p.m. Thursdays.

Events are open to the public and all ages are welcome.

On Thursday, March 17, the WTC will host Bingo Lunch. Meat will be provided. Participants are invited to bring a vegetable, salad or dessert to share during a one-time meal, as well as two $1 Bingo items. There is no charge for Bingo.

The groups in March will be:

March 19: Stone Canyon

March 26: Clear Creek

The cost is $5 for members and $6 for non-members.

Line dancing on Thursdays is $5 per participant.

All ages are welcome. Alcohol or tobacco are not allowed.

VFW hosts Red Rider BB shooting match on March 13

TELL CITY – Post 2939 Foreign Wars Veterans in Tell City will be hosting their Red Rider BB Shooting Match on Sunday, March 13 from noon to 3 p.m.

Participants are requested to bring their Red Rider BB guns. Prizes and food will be available.

Dance Haven Craft and Vendor Sale March 26

TELL CITY – There are more than 30 vendors setting up a table. There will be t-shirts, tumblers, home decor, handmade jewelry, quilting, embroidery, a mobile clothing store, Color Street Nails, Scentsy and more!

The event will take place at Dance Haven Studios on Saturday, March 26 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New AA/NA recovery meetings starting in March

TELL CITY — The new Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetups will begin Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. beginning Monday, March 7, 2022. The meetups are open to anyone seeking recovery.

TELL CITY — A very “magical” experience is coming soon to the Swiss Arts Center. We will turn our walls into Hogwarts hallways and invite all wizards and witches to spend the afternoon with us.
