Dave Chappelle’s company buys Oregon district building, records show – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

DAYTON — The company owned by popular comedian Dave Chappelle has purchased a building in the Oregon district that currently houses a popular comedy club, property records show.

Chappelle’s company, Iron Table Holdings LLC, is now listed as the owner of 101 Pine Street in Dayton, the building that houses Wiley’s Comedy Club, in Montgomery County property records as of Wednesday. Chappelle used the business to purchase other buildings, including those in Yellow Springs.

Property records show Chappelle’s company paid nearly $2 million for the property.

News Center 7 began investigating reports of a possible sale of Wiley’s building over the past two weeks, with the listing now showing the sale of the property to Iron Table Holdings LLC from former owner Laff Ltd. on the County Auditor’s website.

In June, News Center 7 confirmed that a debatable lot for a subdivision near Chappelle’s home in Yellow Springs had been sold. The property, which was once owned by property developers Oberer, was transferred to a company named Spillan Road LLC. The mailing address linked to the Spillan Road company was later changed to Iron Table Holdings, indicating a transfer of ownership, according to Greene County records.

News Center 7 has reached out to representatives for Chappelle with comments and questions about the development plans and we are awaiting a response.

“I think it would bring a lot of people together and be a good laugh,” Gregory Covill Jr. told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell on Wednesday.

With Chappelle’s ties to the District of Oregon, including hosting the Gem City Shine concert after the District of Oregon was filmed, Covill added he was hopeful for the future of the property.

“I think he’s going to renovate and try to bring people together and try to reduce the violence,” Covill said.

Others in the Oregon District added that they were excited for what the famous comedian could bring to downtown Dayton.

“Yes, I’m excited. I’ll be here all the time now, I’m already here all the time, yes it’s wonderful,” Renotta Brown said.
