KYTC District 1 Roadshow: Traffic Impact Report for the week of June 19-25

District 1 is responsible for Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Ballard, McCracken, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, and Trigg counties

PADUCAH, Kentucky (June 10, 2022) – KYTC District 1 anticipates that ongoing construction activities at the following locations will impact traffic the week of June 19-25, 2022.

I-24 westbound from Kentucky to Illinois
An Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) contractor has a work area along I-24 in Illinois from the Johnson-Massac County line to the I-24 Ohio River Bridge at 39 mm. For westbound traffic, this work area begins on the Kentucky side of the bridge. There is a 55 mph speed limit for westbound traffic in Kentucky from 7mm. Westbound work zone lane restrictions are in effect from midnight Sunday through 6:00 a.m. Friday. Both westbound lanes are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a 14ft-3in load width restriction in this IDOT work area. The target completion date is November 15, 2022.

I-24 Work Area at 66-68mm in Trigg County
Eastbound and westbound I-24 traffic returned to a normal flow between the 66-mile marker and the 68-mile marker. A contractor who was planning concrete pavement repairs was delayed on another project. Look for this work area to come back up in about two weeks.

I-24 Westbound at 49 to 45mm in Lyon County
This westbound work zone lane restriction of Interstate 24 at the 49-45 mile marker in Lyon County is to allow for concrete pavement repairs. From Monday, June 20, this team will switch to night work. It is between the Lyon-Caldwell county line and the Eddyville-Princeton KY 293 interchange at exit 45. All traffic is being moved to the left or passing lane in this work zone for approximately 3-4 weeks. There is no impact on eastbound traffic.

I-24 at 89-93mm in Christian County at KY-TN State Line
This work area has one travel lane for concrete pavement repairs and asphalt paving between the KY 115 Oak Grove Exit 89 interchange and the KY-TN state line until approximately July 15, 2022. Please note that TnDOT has overnight paving along I-24 in the Clarksville, TN area of ​​0.0-5mm in Tennessee – no weekend work.

US 60 in Livingston County nearly 12mm
US 60 has an active work area near 12mm on the north end of Smithland for construction of the New Cumberland River Bridge. The contractor has earthworks in progress along the approaches. Flaggers may be present to assist trucks delivering materials and equipment to the job site. There is a 25 mph speed limit for westbound traffic and a 35 mph speed limit for eastbound traffic. The new $63.6 million bridge under construction immediately downstream of the existing bridge is expected to be ready for traffic in the summer of 2023.

US 60 / Clarks River Road on the south side of Paducah
Safety improvements along US 60/Clarks River Road extend east from the Clarks River Bridge for 1/2 mile. Some finishing work continues along this work area, including thermal circulation painting. There is a speed limit of 35 miles per hour. The expected completion date is July 15, 2022. Once completed, the speed limit along this section will be 45 miles per hour.

US 62 in western McCracken County
The US 62//Blandville Rd 4-lane is extended west from KY 998/Olivet Church Rd to the McCracken Boulevard traffic light at the Commerce Park entrance. Look for one-lane traffic and possible delays on Tuesday, June 21 for delivery of bridge girders. There is a 35mph speed limit with a heavy police presence. Two-way traffic is flowing on the westbound lanes while the eastbound lanes are being rebuilt. The project is 75% complete. The expected completion date is December 1, 2022.

US 62 0.0–7.2 mm in northern Marshall County
This safety project extends from Mile 0.0 at the Marshall-McCracken County line to Mile 7.2 at the KY 95 intersection in Calvert City. It includes the construction of a center turn lane through Possum Trot, a left turn lane for US 62 at KY 1523/Industrial Parkway, improvements at the US 62/KY 95 intersection, as well as improvements culverts and shoulders. Pay attention to traffic changes and one-lane traffic. The project is 90% complete. The target completion date is July 31, 2022.

US 62 in Livingston County between KY Dam and KY 453
Traffic is limited to one lane on US 62 near the 1 mile marker on the Vulcan Reed Quarry Haul Road/P&L Railroad overpass. It’s at the west end of the US 62 4-Lane section. There is a 12 foot loading width restriction until around August 1st.

US 641 in southern Calloway County
Construction of the new US 641 from the Clarks River Bridge at the south end of Murray to the KY-TN state line at Hazel continues. Construction of this new 6-mile, 4-lane section of land will have minimal impact on US 641 and existing secondary roads. Motorists are reminded to avoid driving or moving construction barricades along the construction corridor. Phillips Drive is closed where it crosses the construction zone. The target completion date for the project is summer 2023.

KY 80 in Graves County near Fancy Farm is open
KY 80 reopened at Mile 2.85 just east of Fancy Farm with traffic on asphalt base courses. Once the excavation site has been settled, a final driving surface will be added at a later date. Some finishing work will continue for a few weeks. This is part of ongoing safety improvements along KY 80 between Fancy Farm and Mayfield.

KY 310/Turner Landing Rd in Ballard County
KY 310 / Turner Landing Road is closed for approximately three weeks at Mile 1.2 to accommodate a culvert replacement that carries a branch of Humphreys Creek. It’s halfway between US 60 and KY 358/Bandana Road. The expected completion date is June 30, 2022.

KY 453/Dover Rd in Livingston County near Grand Rivers
Traffic on KY 453/Dover Road is restricted to one lane at 2.1mm with an automated signal on the P&L Railroad Overpass immediately south of the US 62/KY 453 interchange. This will affect travel to and from from the Land Between the Lakes and the Grand Rivers region. There is a 12 foot loading width restriction until around August 1st.

KY 994/Old Mayfield Rd closed in southern McCracken County
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road is closed at Mile 2.531 just south of KY 999/Lebanon Church Road due to structural issues with the support structure on the Bottom Ditch Bridge, also known as the drainage channel of the Blizzard pond. Closure is until further notice.

KY 1772 Closed in Hickman County on Monday, June 20
KY 1772 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in northwest Hickman County on Monday, June 20, between the 0.0 mile mark and the 3.234 mile mark to allow basic repairs to several sections of the pavement. It is along KY 1772 south of Arlington between the Hickman-Carlisle county line and KY 58.

This traffic impact report is intended to alert motorists to work zones on major roads. It generally does not include projects on rural secondary roads that have minimal traffic across the country.
