CLEVELAND, OH – The NRP Group, a premier, vertically integrated multi-family housing developer, builder and manager, officially opened a 52-unit, mixed-income, multi-family community in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.
The four-story, 52-unit building at East 105th and Churchill Road will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, as well as four integrated three-bedroom townhouses. All apartments will be available to individuals and families earning 60% or less of the area median income (AMI).
Davis Apartments will be developed in conjunction with University Hospitals, one of the nation’s leading healthcare systems. This development is the third “health and housing” project led by the NRP to improve the social determinants of health (SDOH) in underserved neighborhoods by partnering with hospitals, non-profit organizations and municipalities. The first health and housing development, Residences at Career Gateway in Columbus, Ohio, opened in 2018; the second, Via Sana in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood of Cleveland, is slated to open in 2022.
“Viewing the neighborhood itself as a patient to be healed, health and housing developments provide high quality affordable housing as a means of bringing essential support services to residents and the wider community,” said Scott Skinner, vice president of development at The PNR Group. “These services, such as career development training, health screenings and financial literacy, are not readily available in many underserved neighborhoods. We look forward to working with the City of Cleveland and University Hospitals to lead this project and solve the most pressing needs of the Glenville community.
With their headquarters located just one mile from Davis Apartments, University Hospitals will work with NRP to provide health and wellness education and programs that will be open to the wider community. In addition, NRP will develop a 2,800 square foot community outreach center that teaching hospitals will use to provide preventative health care and SDOH solutions such as healthy cooking demonstrations, food pantry services, programs for pregnant women and new mothers, programs to combat seniors’ isolation, telehealth services, and training on labor and financial literacy. The University Hospitals goal with this development is to actively engage with local Cleveland neighborhoods by reaching beyond its four walls to address key SDOHs in disengaged communities.

The Glenville neighborhood is part of Cleveland’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative, a citywide effort to drive economic growth through healthy, sustainable, and equitable opportunities to create wealth and stabilize neighborhoods historically fringes. Glenville is less than a mile from University Circle, home to Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and dozens of shops , restaurants and grocery stores. The proximity of Davis Apartments to these anchor institutions and employment opportunities creates a strong foundation to build on and an opportunity to make these institutions and employment more accessible to people of all income levels.

NRP worked directly with the city’s Community Development Department to prepare the site for the Davis Apartments. The Davis Apartments are named after Harry E. Davis, a Cleveland native who served four consecutive terms in the Ohio State House before becoming the first African-American member of the Cleveland Public Service Commission and being Ohio State Senator.
Early rental of the community is expected to take place in 2023, with an expected completion date of 2024.
