Suspect in custody after fatal shooting in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A suspect is in custody after a fatal shooting in the Cleveland area of ​​Ohio City on Friday morning, police said.

The 37-year-old is believed to have shot and killed another man outside the Greater Cleveland RTA fast station at West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue, Cleveland Police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.

Police did not release the names of the suspect or the man who died in the shooting.

Officers received a call at around 3:15 a.m. that a man had been shot. They found him with several gunshot wounds on West 25th Street near Gehring Avenue, Ciaccia said.

Paramedics took the man to MetroHealth, where he later died of his injuries, she said.

Officers found the suspect on a nearby bridge. He had a gun on him when police arrested him, Ciaccia said.

Investigators determined that the victim and the suspect were arguing outside the RTA station. The argument turned into a physical altercation and the suspect shot the victim, Ciaccia said.

The shooting is still under investigation.
